Tea tree oil is also known as melaleuca oil, derived from the leaves of the tea tree plant, the Melaleuca alternifolia plant native to Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. The oil is characterized by a camphor-like odor and is known for its various medicinal values. It is used as a topical medication with low concentration for different dermatological treatments. Mix 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil to 2 drops of tea tree oil.

Apply this mixture once a day or on alternate days before sleep. Massage the oil well into the skin with circular motions and use a boar bristle brush to spread the oil mixture evenly to the beard.

Argan, Peppermint, And Tea Tree Oil:

To 2 tablespoons of argan oil, mix 2 drops of peppermint oil and 2 drops of tea tree oil. 

Mix all the oils well and use a dropper to apply it on your skin or beard. Use it once a day or on alternate days before sleep and massage it in circular motions to improve blood circulation and also increase absorption. This mixture has a calming effect due to the presence of peppermint oil.

Jojoba, Lavender, And Tea Tree Oil:

To 2 tablespoons of argan oil, add 2 drops of lavender oil and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil. Mix the oils well and use a dropper for application. Take 2-4 drops of this mixture and apply it evenly on the skin. Make sure to massage in a circular motion to increase absorption and also to increase circulation.  This mixture fights acne on sin and even the acne in the beard skin. It also helps in preventing acne due to its anti-microbial and antiseptic properties.

Sandalwood And Tea Tree Oil:

To 2 tablespoons of sandalwood oil, add 2 drops of tea tree oil and mix them well.

Apply it once a day to reduce beard itching and also to moisturize. Use a dropper to apply and a boar bristle brush to evenly spread the oil in the beard.

Coconut And Tea Tree Oil

To 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, add 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and mix well. Use a dropper to apply and use this once a day or as per requirement. This mixture gives a shiny and healthy look to your beard. It also moisturizes your beard skin, prevents acne, and reduces beard dandruff.

Side Effects

Tea tree oil is safe to use on the skin. But in very few, it might induce allergic reactions such as

  • Skin irritation
  • Rashes
  • Itching
  • Dryness
  • scaling
  • Stinging or burning
  • Redness

Do a sample testing on a small patch of skin to check for any allergic reactions.

Warnings:

Tea tree oil is not safe to be consumed by mouth as it is poisonous. Consuming tea tree oil might induce confusion, lack of muscle control (ataxia), and decrease consciousness.

It is also unsafe to use in children and animals.

Eczema patients should not use tea tree oil as it might cause their skin to burn.

Never apply tea tree oil on lips as it might cause itchiness and rashes.

Do not use pure tea tree oil regularly. Use it once or twice a week, or better use it in the diluted form if using daily.  Tea tree oil is known to be anti-androgenic, so it might cause reverse effects if used regularly.
