What is Balanitis?

Balanitis is a skin disorder groped on the foreskin or head of the penis due to infection or mishandling. Inflammation is the main reason to get balanitis on the penis. Inflammation is the general body's biological response to damaged tissues and cells, issues caused due to aging of tissues, etc.

Symptoms of Balanitis

The symptoms of Balanitis are,

The redness, particularly dark red, blood red, and brown-red, appeared on the foreskin and head of the penis.

The swelling in the tubular shaft of the penis, including the enlargement in the foreskin, or the head of the penis resulting in tightened conditions.

Uncontrollable itching and irritation that further damages the skin condition.

Rashes or micro pimple-like skin condition, either on foreskin or gains penis.

Severe pain during sex and urination.

Various Balanitis Skin Disruptions

There are three basic conditions considered under Balanitis. One is Balanoposthitis, which occurs of inflammation or infection on both the foreskin and head of the penis whereas Balanitis has pertained to just the head of the penis. 

The other condition is Circinate balanitis which defines swelling of the penis. The arthritis-related this condition is also called with the name serpiginous annular dermatitis.

One more is Zoon's Balanitis causing infection or inflammation on the foreskin and glans penis in middle-aged to old aged men whose penis is uncircumcised. 

Various penis skin diseases are similar to Balanitis skin diseases. Few of them are, 

Tight Foreskin is a condition caused by the tightening of the foreskin over the penile body. This causes hard interference during sex and urination, The gentle pullback of the skin, to clean the head of the penis, is an immediate solution to solve the problem. Also called Phimosis is a painless condition but on the delay of its caretaker, it messes up to another severe condition, 

The forwarded condition in phimosis league is Paraphimosis that results in painful swelling of the foreskin and head of the penis. This swell occupies the motion space between the foreskin and the head of the penis making it hard to move the skin to and fro which is a required process to intercourse between the penis and the vagina or the anus. The to and fro motion enables the erectile penis to eject semen.

A hidden penis or buried penis is another condition similar to Balanitis due to which the penis is hidden under the surface of the skin of the thigh or scrotum or abdomen. This condition does not give access to the penis in sexual foreplay. A Webbed penis is one of a kind of buried penis where the penile shaft is hidden by the overlap of the surrounding skin. This disorder is an acquired or congenital condition that means to get it from birth itself.

Penile cancer is a way similar to the looks and definition of Balanitis but the impact is deep-rooted from the blood cells and tissues. The damage of the blood cells corresponding to the skin of the penis is penile cancer. This cancer can be congenital or a rare contagious cancer disease under sexual transmission diseases or infection.

Causes of Balanitis

The causes of Balanitis are various infectious, inflammatory, and allergic reactions of the penile inner and outer cell body system. 

Infections like Sexual transmission diseases or self-body grown viral, bacterial and fungal infections are one of the causes of Balanitis.

Inflammation due to excess blood flow to the organ, collection of dead blood cells, damaged tissues would result in Balanitis.

The itching, irritation, and allergic conditions to various subjects would develop Balanitis.

The allergies were caused due to improper reaction to soap, solutions, and lotions.

The side effects are caused due to drugs taken in curing other skin diseases. 

Excess masturbation could also lead to shape disorder in the penis which further develops Balanitis-related skin conditions.

Engaging in the skin with Improper alignment of the condom over the foreskin and the head of the penis could lead to irritations and rashes which may further develop to Balanitis.

Treatment of Balanitis

Treatment to cure or control Balanitis is varied from condition to condition, relative to various causes and symptoms. Depending on the severity, one should approach a dermatologist first if the infection is just over the skin above layers. If the damage is deep-rooted touching tissues and cells, one should get admitted to a urologist who looks after urinary tract infections.

Drugs,

If Balanitis is caused due to bacterial infections, there are certain antibiotics to treat it. Penicillin is the best in use. Clindamycin is also used to back up oxygen in the affected areas. cephalexin is recommended to treat balanitis caused by Staphylococcus or Streptococcus. ceftriaxone or cefixime of cephalexin can be used to treat balanitis caused by Neisseria gonorrhea.

If the condition is caused due to yeast infection, antifungal creams like clotrimazole and miconazole are doctor advised. 

Hydrocortisone can be used to control irritation and itching.
